South African entrepreneur and property investor Stephen Brian Szewach holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours degree) in Accountancy from the University of the Witwatersrand. By the age of 28, he was admitted as a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and became a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) shortly after.

From an early age, Stephen learnt about the power of using the bank’s money to earn a healthy return. In 1988 his late grandmother bequeathed to him R26 000, which he used to make a cash purchase on a modest two-bedroom flat in Bellevue, Johannesburg. Two years later, he sold it for R50 000. Stephen invested that money in buying three flats in Berea, costing R38 000 each. He put down a R15 000 deposit on each property. By 1995, they had almost doubled in value and he sold each of them for R75 000.

By 35, Stephen owned 22 residential sectional title apartments and townhouses in the greater Sandton area. He managed to do this with bank financing and by obtaining interest rates of up to prime less 2% on 30-year bonds – in the days when banks were hungry to lend and were more negotiable on the terms.

Stephen’s passion has always been property investment and has extensive knowledge and experience in property investment and the South African property market, which he has formulated over many years. Countless people have contributed to his thinking and gained his appreciation along the way. Many people have approached him seeking property and investment advice.

Through his passion to teach and uplift others, he founded Property College – an educational platform that assists property buyers with long-term property investment strategies.

Here’s to wishing you successful investing!
